Lean hog futures posted losses of 20 cents to $1.70 across most contracts. USDA’s national base hog price was reported at $97.37 on Thursday afternoon, up $1.56 from the day prior. The CME Lean Hog Index was down a nickel on August 11 at $95.89.
Weekly Export Sales data showed 36,335 MT of pork sold for 2026 in the week ending on August 6, a 6-week high. Mexico was the buyer of 14,200 MT, with Japan in for 6,400 MT. Â Shipments were pegged at 30,632 MT, also a 3-week low. Mexico was the top destination of 15,100 MT, with 3,900 MT to Japan.Â

USDA’s pork carcass cutout value was back down $1.23 in the Thursday PM report, at $98.92. The loin and belly primals were reported higher. USDA estimated federally inspected hog slaughter for Thursday at 484,000 head, with the weekly total at 1.906 million head. That is 44,000 head above the previous week but down 11,165 head from the same week last year.

Dec 26 Hogs  closed at $73.100, down $1.600,
